Lineman Qualifications:
Must have the desire to thoroughly learn and understand the hazards that exist, including falls, electric shock, electric flash, falling objects and traffic.
You must have the ability to apply all safety knowledge to your everyday tasks and responsibilities.
This includes attending all mandatory safety meetings, the use of all protection equipment, safety equipment, and first aid.
Ability to multi-task and work in a high-energy, fast paced environment and adapt to constantly changing priorities and situations.
Must be capable of climbing utility poles with proper training and learn the layout and characteristics of distribution and transmission lines in the area assigned.
Ability to read and understand all wiring diagrams and blueprints as related to transmission and distribution construction and maintenance.
Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and be available for on-call hours.
Ability to work and communicate well in a team-oriented environment.
Must be able to use of hot line tools and work on all types of energized conductors.
Be familiar with the hazards that exist, including falls, electric shock, electric flash, falling objects and traffic; and is familiar with the use of protection equipment, safety equipment and first aid.
Be able to read and understand all wiring diagrams and blueprints as related to transmission and distribution construction and maintenance.
Know the locations of and be able to operate the assigned firefighting equipment.
Know what kind of equipment to use on electrical, oil and other fires.
Have thorough knowledge of layout and characteristics of distribution and transmission lines in the area assigned.
Must have and maintain a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a good driving record as measured by Mid-South Synergy's criteria, or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of hire date.
Department of Labor Journeyman Certification or equivalent.
Must maintain current safety and professional certifications and credentials as may be required (e.
g.
First Aid, CPR, AED, DDC, etc.
).
Must obtain certification for Hurtman Rescue and maintain certification throughout employment in position.
The process, standards and expectations are established by Mid-South Synergy and employee must meet those within a time limit of four (4) minutes.
Initial certification is scheduled within the first six (6) months of employment and recertification is scheduled on an annual basis.
Employee must meet all standards and expectations in order to pass and continue to be certified and employed in this position.
