Safety Coordinator

DIVERSITECH JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Safety Coordinator DEPARTMENT: Operations REPORTS TO: Facility Manager JOB SUMMARY This position will be responsible for facilitating compliance with occupational health and safety (OSH) guidelines.
The main goal will be to always ensure a safe working environment and prevent any injuries and accidents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Plan and implement OHS policies and programs Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics Prepare and conduct training on company and site-specific safety standards and procedures.
Train new/existing employees to standard work Review existing policies and procedures Adhere to all the rules and regulations Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety Assist in Conducting risk assessment Enforce preventative measures Identify process bottlenecks and offer timely solutions Check if all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations Assist with incident investigations and help Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safety SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume environment, and have a strong attention to detail.
Must be a proactive “self-starter” who can work well without supervision.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, exercise time management and possess good oral and written communication and reading skills.
Prior experience in safety is required.
High school education preferred but not required.
Able to satisfactorily complete an OSHA 10 course.
Bilingual (English and /Spanish).
INTER-RELATIONSHIPS Direction is given by facility manager.
Reports to production supervisor.
Must be able to work well with peers and team members throughout the facility.
WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in a general manufacturing environment or distribution center environment.
Seasonal temperatures may be extreme at times including excessive heat or cold.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must have ability to use hands and fingers to complete tasks quickly and efficiently.
In addition, must have the ability to move freely throughout the facility without physical limitation, and capacity to stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
, and have the ability to bend, stoop and reach.
8:00am - 5:00pm (5 Days/Week) and/or weekends as needed for special projects
