Job Summary Job Summary The Construction Inspector at Texas A&M University provides inspection and documentation on construction projects in the area of safety and code compliance and adherence to plans and specifications.
Operates with a team that includes the Owner, design professionals, general contractors, sub-contractors, project managers and other team members.
Ensure Owner satisfaction and overall success of assigned projects.
Job Responsibilities Performs periodic inspections and evaluations at the construction site as the Owner's representative.
Ensure that quality assurance and quality control activities are performed at the jobsite by monitoring the level of quality for acceptability, and recommend performance improvements as necessary Ensure Federal, State and local regulations and codes concerning health, safety, and the environment are strictly adhered to in the construction of facilities’ projects Have the ability to work safely in a construction environment and be able to fully tour construction sites to monitor progress and adherence to the projects’ construction documents Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data.
As well as completes assigned training Schedule testing activities as required and manage the testing process Review of safe work permit programs and tracking (hot work permit, lift plan, etc.
) Job Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Construction Science, Architecture, or Engineering preferred, or a combination of training and work experience in commercial construction Certified Safety Professional or Associate Safety Professional would be an advantage Experience in implementing a variety of occupational health and safety programs Seven years of experience managing/inspecting construction work Prefer plumbing license, electrician’s license or HVAC technician’s license Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with administrators, department heads, researchers, supervisors, staff, customers, representatives of governmental agencies, architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, etc.
