00 hourly Job Location Bryan, Texas Job Type Temporary/Casual Staff (Fixed Term) Job Description General Summary: As a member of the Utilities Cell Tower/Rope Access Program, the Agency Instructor I, under direction, is responsible for following approved curriculum course outlines.
Responsible for utilizing knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to help maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction.
May perform online and/or classroom instruction, field-based skills training, and/or provide technical assistance in one or more of specialty area disciplines.
Responsible for using a variety of media to present course material and will assist in creating new and/or updating curriculum content, when necessary, to meet learner needs.
This position reports to the Training Manager.
Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED.
Four years of related experience in cell tower/rope access field.
One year of adult education and/or training.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
Five or more years or more experience in the construction, installation, maintenance, of cellular towers as a Technician and crew leader.
Six months experience as an Instructor in Cell Tower Technician courses.
Authorized Climber/Authorized Rescuer, Capstan Hoist Operations certifications from a recognized national provider at a minimum.
Rope access Level 1 Certification through recognized national provider.
Current OSHA outreach trainer.
Current 1st Aid/CPR/AED Trainer.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat.
Ability to support training delivery for up to 8-10 hours/day.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to regularly use computer/keyboard.
Physical conditioning consistent with movement of self, materials, equipment, setting up a classroom, movement of light, moderate, and/or heavy training equipment and instructional materials and performing demonstrations while elevated.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Advanced working knowledge in elevated work industry.
Working knowledge of Regulatory and Compulsory rules related to elevated work industry.
Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs.
Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups.
Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Skilled in utilizing various learning and active listening strategies.
Ability to comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning.

Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages: Training Support and Delivery – 85% Instructs cell tower, rope access, elevated rescue, technical and safety courses as directed.
Travels to remote locations and provide classroom instruction or technical assistance across the state and beyond as assigned by program supervisor.
Assists with training and evaluation course instruction and/or provide technical assistance.
Ensures classrooms/indoor and field exercise locations are ready for participants.
Ensures concerned parties, points of contacts, host organization, agencies, are contacted and notified of schedules, locations, and times.
Ensures participants have achieved terminal objectives of the course.
Ensures training/exercise materials, training aids, and classrooms/locations are secured and accounted for upon completion of the course.
Completes timely reports and other related documentation are completed and secured following course deliveries.
Maintains subject matter expertise in elevated work industry as applied to climbing towers, utilizing ropes for elevated work, and installing equipment.
Collects training documentation, forms, and attendance rosters and other sensitive materials, as appropriate, and submits to the Training Manager, Administrative Assistant, or Customer Care representative as instructed in a timely manner.
Ensures class documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with Division Guidance, Agency, and Contractual requirements.
Ensures that each course is fully coordinated with the receiving jurisdiction; to include, preparing and shipping all required course materials, coordinating teaching assignments with full-time and adjunct instructors.
Prepares class records, After Action Reports, and ensures that they are submitted in a timely fashion at the conclusion of the training.
Development and/or Revision of Climbing/Rope Access Courses - 10% Researches, develops, and writes new instructional material in support of the program and/or updates materials in support of other related courses.
Assists with the research and development of lesson plans, outlines, training aids, manuals, and scenarios for practical application.
Creates and/or updates PowerPoint presentations and/or other graphic training aids.
Ensures that new instructional materials are reviewed as they become available to determine relevance with current courses.
Serves as a team member in monitoring changes in national trends that could impact current and future courses delivered by the program.
Actively participates in team meetings and events.
Administrative/Fiscal Responsibility – 5% Manages the maintenance of fiscal, administrative, and academic records.
Submits administrative paperwork to include timesheets and travel expenses/receipts within the required time frame per agency and division policy.
Tracks and provides estimates of time and effort for technical assistance projects to ensure budget targets are met.
Other Duties: Completes agency required training within the requested due dates.
Follows all dress codes associated with work activity (i.
