The Role
Job Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for the design, development, specification, installation, repair and/or modification of facilities, equipment and machinery as needed to increase production, improve quality or reduce costs.
The role will apply knowledge of engineering principles, theories and concepts to improve the processes, products and/or equipment at the company’s facilities.
They will work with both internal resources and outside vendors and contractors to accomplish these goals.
The Project Engineer will work both independently and under the direction of other staff members.

The size, scope and complexity of these projects will vary widely, so a broad knowledge of engineering disciplines is necessary.
Tasks associated with this work may be: Develop and design unique solutions to satisfy production needs Create and submit CAPEX requests and purchase orders.
Define project scope and requirements and work with vendors and contractors to implement solutions Manage workflow and tasks related to the project both with internal and external resources Direct vendors and contractors to supply or construct equipment and/or facilities Integrate all aspects of the project through the use of AutoCAD and Inventor Design subsystems as need to integrate the various systems.
This could be electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical systems.
Supervise and internal personnel and external contractors Ensure that installed equipment/systems are operational and functioning as required Evaluate existing systems and rework/redesign as needed to improve efficiency, throughput and/or product quality Train operations and maintenance personnel on the operation of the equipment Major Capital Projects Work independently or under the guidance of Engineering manager Assist other staff members in the implementation of larger capital projects Work with external engineering firms to design and construct equipment and processes Work with internal and contract personnel in the execution of projects Plant Support Modify and/or redesign existing plan machinery or process equipment to satisfy the needs of the company and operations Assist the maintenance group with high level troubleshooting of equipment and processes Use engineering knowledge to analyze issues and develop solutions to resolve them Minor Capital Projects Act as the project manager/engineer on smaller capital projects Act independently or under the supervision of the Engineering Manager Work with external and internal manpower to install and commission projects Work with outside vendors and/or engineering companies to develop and implement solutions Design, specify, purchase and install various production equipment including layouts and planning of production areas Ideation Work with senior and fellow engineers to develop alternatives and options for further development of projects and products create new ways of performing work challenge status quo Requirements Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology - REQUIRED Ability to create drawings using AutoCad products, including inventor, or similar software - REQUIRED Demonstrate problem solving/analytical ability - REQUIRED Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent organizational and communication skills - REQUIRED Communication and presentation skills - REQUIRED Proficient Microsoft suite, including MS Project - REQUIRED Familiarity with building and industrial codes (NEC, NFPA, etc.
) - PREFERRED Project Management - PREFERRED Industrial Automation (PLCs, HMI, SCADA, etc.
