Wabtec Elastomers specializes in manufacturing rubber & thermoset components used in various rail, industrial and other transportation market applications.
Our Process Engineer I will develop time standards for production operations and provide cost estimates for new industrial rubber products to improve productivity and costs through industrial engineering principles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
work on projects, plans and schedules from conception, design, development and evaluation of major new products as well as design improvement and cost reduction efforts on existing products having significant impact on the company's operations.
Converting customer technical issues into sales opportunities for new part sales or work through the Service Department.
Working directly with GM, Director of Engineering and plant personnel to develop new products and staying involved throughout project.
Includes working with the plant to optimize the production process to ensure the best quality at lowest possible cost.
Assists sales group in quoting new job opportunities; maintains log of quotes and provides weekly updates on quote status.
Selects, develops, trains and supervises staff.
Develops, resolves and implements policies, procedures and programs.
Selects correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement for existing ones.
Reviews and analyzes proposals submitted to settle if benefits derived and possible applications support expenditures.
Working with the Process Engineers and Quality Manager; reviews and monitors quality and process improvements and new product development.
Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
Reviews operations and plans to meet requirements for sales planning and to ascertain engineering requirements to develop new markets.
Qualifications/Special Skills and Abilities Through knowledge of all plant function and understands the technology of processing rubber.
Demonstrated the ability to quickly learn a new manufacturing process or product line.
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principals and techniques for efficient implementation Develop relationships, manage expectations and communicate on a formal and informal basis with corporate senior executive and customers.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the company.
Basic computer and keyboarding skills Detail and process oriented, excellent listening, oral and written communication skills Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical) CNC experience is a plus Relocation lump sum may be provided if you meet eligibility requirements.
