Job description JOB DETAILS 2nd Shift: 3pm-11pm Base Pay: $16-$17 per hour plus DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operating extrusion press in a safe manner according to Alenco/PlyGem rules and regulations Should have exemplarily attendance record Should be able to communicate in the English language Observes all material being extruded for quality issues or defects Selects correct size billet for order and communicates this information to forklift operator Checks die boxes at beginning, and periodically throughout shift to ensure that correct dies are set up for press orders Communicates well with die shop personnel and Supervisor any issues that may cause quality defects in extruded material Is constantly operating extrusion press in the most efficient manner possible Sets up required die for order in press in a timely and efficient manner Ensures that billet heater is set at correct temperature Ensures that die boxes are set at correct temperature Ensures that press is operating at correct temperature Ensures that press is operating at correct pressure Ensures that correct amount of material is extruded to fill order Keeps accurate count of billets used for order and shift totals Records correct extrusion time for all orders Ensures that press is operating properly and reports any issues to Supervisor on duty and to maintenance Checks extrusion for die lines and obvious dimension issues Sets runout to correct length to minimize scrap Performs table cuts in most efficient manner possible Sets correct speed for extrusion for maximum efficiency and quality Records any issues onto chart for review at end of shift (I.
E.
breakdowns, exceedingly long die changes, etc) Has basic mathematical skills and with use of calculator Performs housekeeping duties in area when time allows and at end of shift Wears proper PPE at all times Ensures that tail stretcher is cutting proper amount prior to stretching to minimize scrap Performs efficiency checks on any order over 4,000 lbs or at any time requested by Supervisor Observes everyone in press area for proper safety procedures (I.
E.
standing in pinch points, near heated surfaces) May assist Maintenance with repairs to extrusion presses Should be proficient in all areas of extrusion process (I.
E.
Stretching, Saw, etc) Checks material after cooling and stretching to ensure quality Assists in the development of procedures for running new dies Assists with tests of new dies are reports any findings Qualifications Ability to measure lengths accurately to 1/32” Ability to lift 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Able to convert fractions to decimals Ability to read and interpret common statistical data, productivity reports, and written instructions Capable of using computerized equipment Will require standing, walking and working on concrete surfaces for long periods of time Ability to move carts in and out of production areas A high school diploma or GED preferred Additional information Site Address: 615 W Carson St.
