SUMMARY Part of IDEX Corporation, Precision Polymer Engineering (PPE LLC) is a manufacturer and supplier of high performance, niche elastomer seals used in critical applications around the globe.

PURPOSE OF ROLE: The Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating and/or monitoring the flow of products through the complete production cycle.
The production planner is also responsible for planning, monitoring, and maintaining appropriate levels of work in process (WIP), consigned, and finished goods inventory (FGI).
They will compose the master production schedule based on needs communicated through sales orders and the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process.
The master schedules will be translated into daily production plans to deliver customer orders on-time to commitments, forecast, and operating plans.
They will provide timely planning and scheduling of manufacturing work orders to the manufacturing floor to achieve both internal financial goals and customer delivery dates.
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations and Global Value Stream TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Including but not limited to: Translate the weekly Master Production Schedule (MPS) into a detailed daily schedule plan for all production teams.
Develop and maintain short and long-term production schedule plans Collaborate with operations and production to incorporate any adjustments to production schedule into the ERP Establish and improve lead-times for manufacturing cells as competitive conditions require.
Inclusive of, but not limited to minimizing change overs, sequencing complimentary work to minimize dwell.
Provide delivery promise dates and lead times to internal and external sales teams for incoming orders and quotes.
Match actual requirements with the master schedule as they materialize Identify part shortages on incoming orders and work closely with purchasing and manufacturing to expedite where needed Holds key role in daily production meeting, providing updates & taking action required to meet on-time delivery expectations Develop detailed daily reporting which highlights exceptions / non-conformances to schedule execution & inventory planning to the pertinent functions.
Review and interpret production reports related to open orders and daily schedule plans; Adjust schedules as needed Utilize both visual Kanban and MRP planning systems to release production orders (job cards) to manufacturing in a timely fashion Review, interpret and plan production from customer portals providing forecasts for consignment programs of key customers, including maintaining appropriate stock levels as required Review all work orders for BOM accuracy, parts availability, and production capacity levels; Problem solve when necessary Lead & drive the SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) process for the organization, collaborating across departments to identify & resolve factors that affect the daily production schedule Establish and maintain a daily communication system to inform pertinent functions of schedule delays and communicate recovery date to the team and ERP Collaborate and maintain accountability with Operations to understand factors affecting the daily production schedule attainment and drive future improvements Generate reports and/or request system enhancements to support required analysis Daily review Cycle Count detailed report and determine impact on schedule and material availability, make appropriate ERP System transactions Issue all work orders to shop floors providing required documentation for final assembly of finished goods and assemblies Develop and recommend inventory policies and procedures Closely monitor company inventory levels and direct management attention to problem areas Assists Sales, Marketing, Operations and Finance for the prevention and disposition of distressed (i.
e.
, obsolete, aged, overstock and slow moving) inventories and space management Analyze inventory variances and execute both short term and long-term corrective action in collaboration with pertinent functions.
Monitor compliance and take corrective action as necessary Actively leads, supports, and participates in Rapid Improvement Events (RIE’s) SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE: 5 years’ experience in Production Planning or related role Associate degree, or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience APICS (American Production & Inventory Control Society) and/or NAPM (National Association of Purchasing Management) certification is preferred Previous master planning experience Previous SIOP planning experience preferred Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook software Working knowledge of J.
