You will love it here ! What We Want The Project Specialist III for Residence Life Housing Systems reports to the Associate Director of Residence Life and shares responsibility for the overall management of multiple enterprise level software solutions.
The position is also responsible for working with department leadership, third party vendors, and Division of Student Affairs IT to analyze and document the business and operational needs for the department, review potential IT solutions, then plan, develop and implement projects to meet the identified needs.

What You Need to Know Salary: Minimum of $56,000, commensurate with hire's experience.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience Two years of professional, non-clerical experience in data management, analysis, administration or closely related work Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Management Information Systems Five or more years of professional, non-clerical experience in data management, business analysis and project management related to the operational and IT needs of a functional department Thorough understanding of IT supported applications utilizing Banner Preferred Licenses and Certifications: Business analysis or project management certifications such as Agile or PMI Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to identify and understand operational needs of the department Ability with or knowledge of broadly used, specialized/specialty and enterprise applications Knowledge of MS Office and Visio or comparable flow-charting program Experience with database structures, data analysis, SQL, and database modeling tools Must have high level of attention to detail, strong organizational and writing skills Knowledge of SDLC Must be able to work and communicate with a wide variety of people such as end users, executives, IT developers and various technical staff Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others Ability to effectively facilitate meetings Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of MS Office and Visio or comparable flow-charting program Must have high level of attention to detail, strong organizational and writing skills Knowledge of hosted software/database solutions, project management and SDLC Knowledge of Oracle Ability to write, edit, test, and analyze command programs in statistical software Ability to work with various data storage systems Responsibilities: Coordination and Facilitation - Works collaboratively on the development and ongoing management of multiple enterprise level housing software solutions.
Coordinates the analysis and documentation of Residence Life business practices, business processes and IT needs.
Facilitates meetings, conducts interviews, and performs research.
Captures business requirements for IT project requests and coordinates with Division IT and third party vendors to fulfill requests.
Facilitates, with Division IT and third party vendors, any approved upgrades, reconfigurations and changes to the software solutions.
Coordinates user acceptance testing as approved changes are made, new features are implemented, and vendors roll out major software version updates.
Manages user access and user security permissions groups.
Generates and stores reports on housing data in compliance with established reporting standards.
Coordinates with Division IT and third party vendors to archive or delete data per University retention schedule.
Project Implementation - Coordinates with Division IT and third party vendors the implementation of projects related to installation, configuration, maintenance and updates to major systems and system processes including housing application, camp/conference application and registration, roommate selection, room assignments, billings, early move-in/late stays, incident reports, concerning student behavior reports, programming reports, etc.
Develops and writes test cases for end users to test changes made by Division IT or third party vendors.
Leads end user testing of system changes.
Project Analysis & Development - Analyzes requests coming in from executive staff, management staff and end users on a daily basis.
Assigns priority to requests and assigns resources to meet needs outlined in the request.
Converts requests into projects as needed.
Completes initial project analysis and assessment.
Develops small and large project proposals, timelines and budgets as needed for change to existing systems, purchase of off-the-shelf software solutions, or other.
Develops use cases, wire frames, storyboards, process flows, and data maps.
Collaborates with executive staff in the analysis of business needs and prioritization for larger and more complex projects.
Works independently on requests and projects where executive approval is not needed.
Business Recommendations - Translates business/operational practices and processes into requirements that can be used to identify solutions.
Consults with software vendors and benchmarks against other institutions of higher education regarding best practices in the use of the housing software solutions for business processes such as applications, assignments, billings, summer conferences, room configuration, keys management, incident reporting, customer communications, security permissions, etc.
Coordinates with Division IT to investigate effective solutions to meet identified business needs.
Provides reports with options and recommendations to executive staff, management staff and end users based upon research and current business practices.
Training & Support - Responds to ad-hoc user requests on a daily basis and creates work tickets for requests as needed.
Creates end-user procedure documentation and provides training and support for end-users of major systems.
Assists staff in the development of ad-hoc reports using third party software.
Consults with Division IT and third party vendors regarding systems issues and assists in implementation of system solutions.
Acts as a liaison between the Department of Residence Life and Division IT and third party vendors providing IT services to Residence Life.
Serve on Committees as needed.
