Engineering Technician

Blue Bell Creameries, LP has 3 factories which manufacture ice cream and frozen dessert products.
The opportunity has arisen for an *Engineering Technician* to join our team.

*POSITION SUMMARY:* Provide direct technical support for the various manufacturing systems of the factory.
Issue, maintain, and update related documentation to be in compliance with change control documents.
Project management responsibilities include direct responsibility and oversight for: administering upgrades, modifications, and new installations to maintain and increase operational efficiency of the plant processes and utilities.
*HOURS:* 1st or 2nd shift hours, flexible *PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:* *Project Management:* * Conduct estimation, planning and execution of maintenance and investment projects for factories * Develop: project parameters, timelines, resource requirements, and costing * Implement hands on approach to project management with mechanical aptitude * Duties are performed in a diverse and fast-paced manufacturing facility environment * Candidate must be highly-motivated and have a self-starter mentality *Technician Functions:* * Provide primary technical support and troubleshooting to maintain and improve the existing facility equipment and infrastructure * Ensure that guidelines and procedures are followed for changes, including written management approval, clear change definition * Follow-through with process descriptions, P&IDs, and other documentation are updated when a change is implemented *Inter-departmental Communication:* * Practice and train others on proactive solution-based maintenance fundamentals to increase performance and reduce downtime * Assist with maintenance project scope development and execution by conveying technical experiences and opinions * Facilitate task or project work through effective communication * Solicit plant associates' experiences and opinions for project execution and development *REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:* One of the following is required as a minimum: * Associate's degree that relates to the mechanical, or manufacturing fields along with 2 years of experience * Bachelor’s degree that relates to the mechanical, or manufacturing fields.
* 5 years of mechanical, or manufacturing technical experience in a related industrial field * Relative working experience within Blue Bell Creameries, LP in a technical position *EXPERIENCE:* *Preferred:* * Experience with running small to medium sized projects * General knowledge of fabrication and welding practices * Knowledge of machine tools and their functions * Ability to decipher and understand electrical and pneumatic circuits *SKILLS:* * Exceptional communication and project management skills (written and oral) * Problem-solving skills * Good mechanical aptitude * Experience with Autodesk products, Inventor or AutoCAD * Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products * Understands principles of HACCP, GMPs, and SOPs *Other Requirements:* * Comfortable working in extreme environments ranging from Texas Heat – 20 Below * Ideal applicant is highly-motivated with a self-starter mentality * May spend up to 85% of time in plant (in the field) physically working on projects * Be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces under controlled conditions * Continually conscientious about hygienic methodology Job Type: Full-time Benefits: * 401(k) * 401(k) matching * Dental insurance * Employee assistance program * Employee discount * Flexible spending account * Health insurance * Life insurance * Paid time off * Parental leave * Retirement plan * Vision insurance Schedule: * Day shift * Monday to Friday * Overtime Work Location: In person
