POSITION SUMMARY The Assistant Tasting Room Manager will be responsible for assisting with the growth, direction and maintenance of the Tasting Room and Wine Bar at Messina Hof Winery and Resort.
This position will assist in the daily operations, achieving sales objectives, and training of staff.
In the absence of the Tasting Room Manager, this position will be responsible for all Tasting Room operations.

Essential Functions Statement(s) Assistant Tasting Room Manager Assist with all operations and duties of the Tasting Room Manager.
Supervise Tasting Room and Wine Bar staff to include training, discipline and managing employee development plans.
Facilitate Messina Hofs high standard of cleanliness and organization in all areas of the Tasting Room and Wine Bar including, food areas, deck and patio area, preparation areas and restrooms Develop sales, achieve sales goals and control expenses to make the Tasting Room and Wine Bar most profitable and run within budgetary guidelines Assist in developing and achieving sales goals for the Wine Club and VIP programs Assist with inventories of salable gift items, promotional materials and all food products.
Target, promote, solicit, lead and coordinate groups for tours, tastings, personalized labels and events.
Assist with promoting education, sales, tastings, and parties at the winery Identify and communicate all items to be promoted based on goals to sales staff Responsible for cash handling duties including making cash transactions, verifying cash drawer, and giving change Responsible for opening and closing procedures Communicate with guests, co-workers, and business associates in a courteous and professional manner.
Must be people and hospitality oriented.
Assist with monthly inventory and other inventories as needed.
Wine Club and VIP Engage in Wine Club and VIP customer service activities, database maintenance, and duties to enhance the retention of Wine Club and VIP memberships.
Assist the Wine Club and VIP department with the execution of in-house Wine Club and VIP events, such as VIP Receptions and Wine Club Pick-Up Parties, to maximize attendance and sales.
Communicate and educate information that is passed from the Wine Club and VIP department to the staff at Messina Hof Bryan.
Perform other duties as required including assisting other departments as needed Qualifications Competency Statement(s) Related degree and/or 3-5 years related experience Restaurant experience preferred Good management and leadership skills and ability to supervise Ability to operate a personal computer and be familiar with a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, POS, etc.
Ability to run registers, post daily sales and reconcile monies.
Ability to read P&Ls and control cost centers.
Must have active TABC and Food Handler certifications at all times.
