Conducts all duties and responsibilities as defined in the Blinn College faculty handbook for a part-time instructor.
Instructor may be assigned to teach Cell Culture Techniques, Laboratory Methods and Techniques, or Biotechnology Laboratory Instrumentation.
Essential Duties
1.
Teach assigned courses, which may include Cell Culture Techniques, Laboratory Methods and Techniques, Biotechnology Laboratory Instrumentation, or other Biotechnology courses as needed.
2.
Prepare course syllabi according to the current college guidelines.
3.
Develop, grade, administer and facilitate quizzes, exams, and other assessment tools used to evaluate student learning.
4.
Assist in making recommendations to the Program Coordinator for Biotechnology Laboratory Sciences regarding curriculum additions, deletions,or revisions.
5.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
At least 3 years of cGMP laboratory experience or 3 years experience working in a laboratory that performs various biotechnology techniques such as PCR, electrophoresis, protein purification, HPLC, spectrophotometry and cell culture.
Preferred Experience and Training
Technical Skills to include: HPLC operating experience, protein purification experience, FTIR experience, mammalian cell culture experience.
College teach experience preferred.
Physical Requirements Required Degree, License or Certifications
A bachelor’s degree in genetics, biochemistry, biology, molecular biology, microbiology, or other biotechnology related field.
