American Lumber is a leading manufacturer in the lumber industry, with facilities and sales offices in multiple locations across several states.
We are currently looking for a Staff Accountant to be an integral part of our accounting team.
This position reports to the Accounting Manager and works in our downtown Bryan office.

Primary job duties for this position include:
Perform complex general ledger account reconciliations and prepare journal entries as needed
Actively participate in the month-end and year-end close process
Prepare and review schedules and work documents needed for external audits
Assist in documentation of processes and key policies
Identify areas for improvement in accounting processes
Maintain fixed asset records by entering transactions for additions and disposals
Complete property tax renditions
Prepare 1099s
Assist with the accounting and financial reporting for joint ventures with American Lumber
Review corporate card transactions and expense management to ensure expenses are recorded and coded in accordance with company policies
Prepare monthly sales tax reports
Monitor vendor-managed inventory and offsite inventory records for accuracy
Work on special projects and reporting as assigned
Minimum Qualifications - Education/Eperience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited 4-year college or university
3+ years of relevant work experience
Minimum Qualifications - Skills:
The ideal candidate must be able to operate in a challenging, fast-paced, team environment.
They must also demonstrate an ability to take ownership of their duties and continually focus on process improvement and increasing efficiencies.
Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities
Thorough understanding of GAAP, journal entry preparation, general ledger account reconciliation, and financial reporting
Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience with ERP accounting systems (Net Suite preferred)
Highly detail-oriented and well organized
Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $50,000.
